The Sierra Madre Oriental and Hidalgo state, where most of the Otomí embroiderers that we work with live, is a remote mountainous region in north eastern Mexico. It has been hit very hard by the pandemic, as has Puebla, where Alejandro, who I work with closely, lives. The road to the villages where the artists live was closed for months, in order to prevent an increase of outbreaks in the area. The good news is that the roads are open again, and the artists have designed and embroidered many beautiful tenangos (pieces of embroidery) in the past few months!
We thank you very much for your support , as always!
